Lucy Sparkles & Friends music classes develop musical, physical, emotional and intellectual skills through engaging and fun sessions. Each class includes live instruments, a capella singing games, action songs, rhymes, listening and moving to music and playing along on percussion instruments.
A Covid-safe music class for pre-crawling babies and their carers - please ensure you read the guidance in your confirmation email.
When coming to the class please bring along an instrument (anything that rattles) a scarf (beek-a-boo style) and something soft to sit on, as if the weather is fine the class will be held outdoors.
I’ve put in lots of extra safeguards to ensure that all our classes are Covid-safe. This includes providing each family with their own ‘music zone’, which will be 2m from the next family (by family I mean carer and child). I’ve also ramped up extra cleaning and ask you (but not your child) to wear a face covering until you are seated in your music zone.
How many people will be in the class?
We’re limiting numbers carefully to make sure everyone has plenty of space to social distance, and so the maximum number per class will vary from venue to venue. It will never be more than 12 participating children though (to put it another way, that’s me, 12 adults and 12 children).
Will you be making toddlers social distance?
In following the government guidance, I will be asking children to stay within their family bubble during classes. However, I recognise that small children may find this difficult, and that everyone makes mistakes. For this reason I’m using large venues with plenty of air circulation and wiggle room. My aim is to make this a supportive environment where everyone feels confident that they are safe, but not that they have to sit like a statue!
There’s no way my child will sit still for 30 mins – can I still come?
Yes! Whilst I’m adapting lesson plans to enable social distancing, there will still be lots of movement within your own music zone. If you’ve been to my classes before, you’ll know we do lots of action songs, with opportunities for children to contribute their ideas and lead the movement – the same ethos will run through all my classes.
Mask to Mat
In line with government guidance, I’m asking all adults to wear a face covering whilst entering, exiting or moving around the venue. Once seated in your music zone, you are welcome to remove this if you wish. I will be doing the same! PS If you have a medical exemption then of course that’s fine.
Usually we provide all the props and instruments required for the class. However, to avoid contamination through prop sharing, we ask you to bring your own for now – an instrument and a scarf. Children must not share these props with anyone outside their family during the class.
I’ve been asked to self isolate – can I transfer my class?
If you are able to give more than 24 hours notice that you’re unable to attend the class then you can transfer your ticket to a zoom class or use it another time – just email me to set this up. If it’s less than 24 hours then get in touch as soon as you can and I’ll do my best to be flexible. Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds except in exceptional circumstances.
