  If you are going back to work or just fancy bringing classes to your living room then we have an amazing pre recorded programme to be enjoyed in the comfort of your living room. All classes teach the same signs and themes as venue classes, include all your favourite songs, interaction with Jessie Cat and you'll see lots of friendly teachers from around the UK.   About Me
  

  I am a twin mum to two gorgeous girls, you'll see their lovely faces pop up from time to time on our Social pages! We all started Sing and Sign as a family when the girls were 3 months old. It was eye opening to see how natural signing is for parents and for babies. The first time your baby shows you what they want using gestures is magical! Gestures like waving are used all the time to communicate with babies, and each other. Sing and Sign teaches you the tools to be able to go one step further with those gestures in a very relaxed, fun and musical way so that your baby can let you know if they're thirsty, if they're in pain, what they remember from their day or who they want to see. My girls love their Sing and Sign lessons, signing is built in to our daily routine and I find it fascinating which signs they pick up and what they want to tell me. This inspired me to become a teacher. 

  
  

  Sing and Sign is easy to learn, really enjoyable for babies and their carers and it is an incredible tool to help understand babies needs, thoughts and ideas. I love teaching this incredible skill and I am excited to share this joy with you and your baby.

  Which class is right for you?

  There are three different classes to join depending on the age of your baby and if you have signed before:

  
  

  Babes

  0 - 6 month old babies - 30 minute class - 5 or 10 week term - learn key signs, fun songs and a really special way to engage with your baby - wonderful way to meet other new parents in your area - a lovely, gentle introduction to baby signing. The aim of this class is to offer families a carefully structured introduction to creating a strong framework for brilliant communication with their babies. You will learn lots of lovely simple songs that are just right for this age group. And, we concentrate on the essentials, such as, good eye contact, repetition and anticipation. 

  
  

  Stage 1

  6 - 18 month old babies or those that haven't signed before - 45 minute class - 10 week term - small class numbers - learn basic and secondary signs - themed lessons - great way to meet other parents and babies - babies use all kinds of signs and gestures as a natural part of learning to talk. Encouraging your baby with signs like milk, more, change nappy or tired will help your baby communicate. Our classes follow the same structure every week, which is something that babies will soon learn to recognise and respond very positively to. We introduce new signs each week and we then 'spiral learn' so that signs and songs are repeated throughout the term. 

  
  

  Stage 2

  15 - 36 month old babies - 45 minute class - 10 week term - small class numbers - learn even more signs and develop this fantastic communication tool - themed lessons - this class includes a little more action and activity for toddlers! Even if you have never done Sing and Sign before, our Stage 2 class includes basic advice on how to sign with your baby. Our lovely songs cover concepts such as the weather, colours, being helpful, simple counting, opposites and even beginning phonetic awareness. All enjoyed through our magic ingredient...music! There are also opportunities to move about more and plenty of toys and props to keep your baby amused!

  FAQs

  Will learning signs delay my baby’s speech?

  Signing does not delay speech. Signs are never used in place of spoken words and your baby will be greatly encouraged to communicate verbally. Most babies will stop using the sign once they have learned and can use the word instead. As part of their typical development before speech is well established, babies naturally use a combination of gestures and sounds to help to be understood by the people around them. For example, they may point, shake their heads, clap their hands and wave ‘hello’. Sing and Sign builds on this natural ability by teaching extra gestures to help babies communicate. 

  
  

  What signing system does Sing and Sign use?

  Sing and Sign teaches keyword signing, always with the spoken word and by using one sign per sentence (which is appropriate for the age group we are teaching).

  Our signs are widely used by Speech and Language professionals, nurseries and schools across the UK. 

  
  

  Can I pay as I go? 

  I am unable to offer a pay per week option because whilst out classes are fun and music driven, Sing and Sign is primarily a teaching programme. Our programme is progressive and has been designed by experts to build each week, therefore dropping into classes or doing part of the term isn’t offered as you would miss key elements of the course. If you are only able to pay for a term in part payments please contact me to discuss potential options. 

  
  

  What if I am on holiday during term time? 

  Your place on the course is reserved for the term, so unfortunately if you miss a class I am unable to refund you for that missed class. If you let me know in advance I may be able to offer you a place on another day so you don’t miss our or we have our @home lessons that can be enjoyed while you are away so you don’t miss out.

  When do your terms begin throughout the year? 

  There are four terms per year: Autumn term begins in September, Spring term begins in January, Summer term begins in April and Summer Holiday term begins in July.

• Nurseries

  Sing and Sign has a fantastic Nursery Affiliation Programme. It is an amazing way to include baby signing as part of your childcare. Initial and refresher training sessions are available, it is very reasonable and renewal is once a year.
