Hot Yoga South was founded in 2008 by Carolyn Jikiemi-Roberts. You can call her CJ.
Prior to her first class, CJ thought yoga was boring.
Why did she change her mind? Two reasons. Firstly, after a few classes she realised that yoga had massively reduced chronic discomfort following a whiplash injury and secondly, CJ’s kids said that yoga made her a less grumpy mum.
She trained and qualified as a Bikram Yoga teacher in 2003.
Our teachers are aware that 90% of students can’t do 90% of the postures 90% of the time.
This doesn’t matter. You’ll get better.
After all, yoga is a practice. It’s also OK if you’re a bit clumsy, have a potbelly and your yoga outfit isn’t Instagram-ready. The fact is, we welcome everyone regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, size and ability.

A brilliant practise doesn't necessarily make a great teacher - but Almania really is one of the best at HYS. She has calm authority and a lovely manner. Almania learns everyone's names, gives individual corrections throughout class and notices everything. She knows when to push, which is great for someone who tends to slack! Please always keep her on the timetable.
