Hypnobirthing classes in the North East and online

What Birth Then Baby says

At Birth Then Baby, I teach evidence-based, hypnobirthing classes designed to give you everything you need to feel prepared for birth. I combine my skills as a Hypnobirthing Teacher and Mental Health Therapist, to deliver hypnobirthing courses that attend to both your physical and emotional needs.

Whether you're planning a vaginal, home birth, or you've chosen a hospital caesarean, my class will give you all the skills you need to:
-Understand what to expect during birth and what your birth options are
-How to make important decisions about your birth
-How to cope when plans change and how to create a flexible birth plan
-Techniques to help you stay calm, in control and confident throughout your birth
-Re-write fears associated with birth (like that story you can't get out your head after watching One Born Every Minute)
and so much more, it's impossible to summarise in a few paragraphs!

You might be looking for pain management during labour, or practical ways to improve your birth experience, either way you're in the right place.

When you work with me, you're getting more than just an accredited hypnobirthing teacher – I'm also a registered mental health therapist. With over a decade in the NHS and private sector, I've supported hundreds of families throughout pregnancy and after birth. Therefore I understand the challenges that can arise and how to manage these.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, I'm always happy to help!

About

Hello, I’m Holly!

I’m an accredited Hypnobirthing teacher and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. Which is basically a fancy way of saying I help expectant parents to work towards a more positive birth experience and I’m also a mental health therapist.

I started my journey working mental health over 12 years ago, which makes me feel incredibly old! But during this time I have supported both adults and children to manage common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression.

In 2020, I started a Psychology Doctorate and worked as a Trainee Psychologist in services across the country. I have always been extremely passionate about women’s health, therefore my thesis was dedicated to understanding people’s experiences when trying to conceive.

I think that was a real eye opener for me, as it really brought to light just how little there is to support individuals when trying to conceive, throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.

After my first year of the doctorate, I fell pregnant myself!

I was delighted and really looking forward to becoming a Mum (or Mam as we call it up here in the North). I hadn’t really thought too much about the birth, as I felt quite chilled out about it all.

However, delight soon turned to worry after I experienced a high-risk pregnancy and birth. My ‘I’ll just see how it goes’ attitude didn’t cut it anymore and I started to look into hypnobirthing. I half did an online course, but sadly felt the course I chose was very pro home birth and knowing that wasn’t an option for me, was making me feel like I’d already ‘failed’ at birth.

Since then, I have made it my aim to support individuals like you, who might be feeling overwhelmed when it comes to pregnancy and birth. Whether you’re worried about ‘losing control’ during birth or don’t really know the difference between the interventions, I totally get it and I’m here to help. I pride myself in teaching courses that are here to support you no matter what type of birth you have. Fancy a home birth? Perfect! Caesarean? You got it! I’m absolutely not here to lead you down a particular birth route, but I am here to teach you the information and techniques that you can apply whatever direction your birth takes.

I combine my expertise as a Hypnobirthing Teacher, with my skills as a therapist, to help you not only overcome physical challenges in your pregnancy and birth, but emotional ones too.

Trust me, I understand what an emotional rollercoaster it all can be, so let me help you to take some of the pressure off.
