What Crescendo says

Crescendo seeks to provide a foundation for the youngest musicians through collaborative music-making and movement. These classes are run by a professional and experienced music teacher, and new mum, catered to create a safe space for new parents, as well as a fun, engaging and educational session for baby! The classes are catered by age group and are aimed at babies through to 6 year olds.

About

Finn is a trained primary school teacher; specialising in the Early Years and in Music Education. Music has always been central in her life. Having previous experience working as a nursery and primary school classroom teacher as well as music lead in Southwark and Camden Primary schools and nurseries, Finn has, like many, had a change in direction since the pandemic and, since the birth of her own baby, is now focussing on building and developing Crescendo around Surrey and Sutton; in particular, on music with pre- and post-natal mums and babies and using classes as a tool to connect local mums, dads and carers.

Having gained her own initial musical experiences at a young age with the Camden Music Service (CMS) before moving onto teaching workshops and classes across Camden, she came up with the idea for Crescendo in early 2011. She started classes, with the support of the CMS, and then expanded to schools, nurseries and settings across Camden. She has completed training in various early years styles of teaching and uses her research and training to provide classes that are catered specifically for each child. Particular focus is given to pitch matching, exciting repertoire, movement, pulse and rhythm, through imaginative and engaging activities. Finn believes that your learning journey never finishes and continues to actively search for new ways to develop her practice - however, she feels that she learns most from her everyday work with babies and children!
