DanceMums is a 60 minute fitness class that caters for your fitness, social life and yours and your babies happiness in just one weekly session! You get to boogie whilst toning your whole body and meeting a new bunch of fun mummy friends! This class is suitable for all abilities, shapes and sizes. No previous dance experience needed. You can do as much or as little as suits you. Lots of toning up movements, stretches, and some new dance routines including Contemporary Dance, vernacular Jazz, Russian Folk, social Salsa, African dance.

About

Let me introduce myself- my name is Svetlana and I will be your teacher. I have danced since I was 6 years old and studied at the Russian Music and Dance Conservatory, I then joined Image dance company and spent a few years working as a dancer, performing in Russia and China, while studying at Amur State University in Linguistics in Russian, English and Mandarin. In NYC I went to Queens College of CUNY and graduated with a BA in Dance with Magna Cum Laude. My dance styles have developed and evolved with each journey ranging from Ballet, Russian folk and tap to Show girls dance, Hip hop and Ballroom dance styles to name a few. But my main focus was always Contemporary dance style. I further developed myself by undertaking Simonson teaching technique in jazz and contemporary dance style. I created OvDa dance company in NYC and produced a number of choreographic works 12 years ago. 10 years ago I moved to London where my husband and I had started our family together. We now have Amaya who is 7 and Rupert who is 5. I had produced and performed a few jobs in London working with Redbridge Council and Libraries and further independent dance projects. I moved to Bristol 9 years ago since my husband's job has been allocated and now to Nailsea. Throughout all my years with dance and in dance, I have taught dance and it is my biggest pleasure to share the love for dance and movement whatever the style. I love seeing people learning something new, challenging themselves and improving their everyday life with dancing.

As you know, this workshop is for open level- which means any ability with or without dance experiences are welcome. Every 6 weeks you will learn a different dance style and each week you will build more and more material while still developing your coordination, improving your fitness and working on your dancer's body, alignment and posture.

Everyone is talking about the great benefits of the physicality in dance as an activity, but let's not forget how it makes you feel- those endorphins are making you happier with each move! So, let's dance and enjoy this experience together.
