What Ecco Theatre Arts says

Ecco was founded in 1992 by Amanda Horne. It began in a church hall in Ecclesfield with dance classes in ballet, tap and freestyle. Ecco moved to the Burton Street Project in 1995 and quickly expanded running dance classes every day. In 2012 we moved to our own premises at The Nichols Building, Shalesmoor. In July 2018 we moved to a brand-new studio around the corner at 122 Scotland Street S3 7DE. It felt like home from the very first day! Over the years Ecco has trained many Freestyle, Slow, Rock n Roll and Street Dance champions and had students nominated for IDTA Freestyle Scholarships. We have had many children successfully audition to perform in professional productions at the Lyceum, Crucible and other local theatres in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Chesterfield. Many pupils have gone on to further education in the arts with students studying at prestigious institutions such as Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Bird College, Performers College and some of the UK's top universities. A number of past students have gone on to have a career in the industry and Amanda has trained many dance teachers including all of her own teaching team!
