What Lynn Murphy Yoga says

Hi, I'm Lynn and for more than twenty years I have held space for countless women as they prepared for birth & motherhood. I developed my approach under the umbrella of the Active Birth Centre which I ran as co-director for many years alongside Janet Balaskas. Here I was able to support parents-to-be as they prepared for birth and parenthood. My practice and my offerings have evolved within that time to provide a unique approach where my classes are responsive, not prescriptive. I feel it’s important to listen & adapt to each group & individual taking part, as we take a journey together. My focus is to empower & enrich you through my approach to yoga, breath & embodied movement, and various other group and 1:1 offerings. Creating a space to gently explore your experiences of motherhood, wherever that place may be for you now. Many of us during pregnancy and postpartum are looking for movement that brings a sense of ease to the body, a form of moving meditation. A woman’s body often craves a more gentle and playfully nurturing approach, something more fluid and rounded. I believe this same approach can also be applied to parenting our babies. Babies are a great source of education to us all, when we watch our babies with curiosity, we can learn so much that will help us better respond to their needs. Every baby I have ever met has been so wonderfully unique that no one way will suit them all. I will support you on your yoga and parenting journey through an approach that is based on ‘keep it simple’ and ‘less is more’. Helping you as a mother through the wonderful highs, and sometimes the more challenging days, to remember you are good enough - just as you are. Come and join this safe and nurturing space, a place to share and build community.

About

Alongside art, yoga was my other love from the age of twenty one. I went on to discover active birth yoga classes when I was pregnant with my son. After the birth of my second child, I began to move away from art, towards yoga, and trained as an Active Birth Yoga Teacher in 1995-97. Other trainings followed, alongside the exploration of movement in many forms within my yoga practice. I attend workshops and trainings with a number of wonderful teachers who help to keep me nourished.
