About

My name is Sophie. I love music and music-making. I feel that it is a core part of being human and that everyone at every stage of life should have access to music-making opportunities. As well as singing I have been playing violin and piano since early childhood. My passion led me to study for a degree in Music (along with German) at university. Over the last few years I have also been playing ukulele. Post-university I have worked as an accountant while continuing various musical activities during all of this time. These have included orchestral playing, choral singing, playing violin in a folk band for ceilidh dancing, and facilitating occasional community singing events.

Over the last 3 years my working life has taken a different direction. I have developed a mix of music education experiences including holding online and in-person sessions for under 3s and their parents, and socially distanced/ outdoor sessions for 4-7 year olds. I am inspired by my own early music education which included the Kodály and Dalcroze approaches.

I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and have a full DBS check. I am currently undertaking Kodály music education courses with The Phoenix Collective: https://thephoenixcollective.co.uk/
