POSTNATAL POETRY

Gentle and nourishing poetry sessions for mums alongside their babies

What Postnatal Poetry says

Sessions are for all mums who are looking for a gentle and creative activity which they can do alongside their babies aged 0-6 months. Each session we will: -Read and chat about a selection of contemporary poems on an aspect of new motherhood -Use the poems as a springboard for wider reflection and discussion -Do some relaxed ‘poetic journaling’ by responding to writing prompts on the session’s theme, aiming to give shape to our experiences through words. This will be a guided but private process, with no expectation to read aloud or share anything -Enjoy tea, biscuits and a check-in

About

I’m a poet and an educator and I love bringing people and poetry together. I believe that poetry can help us make sense of our lives, and I’m passionate about creating welcoming poetic spaces for all.

The seeds of Postnatal Poetry were sown during my maternity leave with my first baby, when I very much wanted to process some of my experiences through reading and writing – as I always had done – but struggled to find the time, headspace or arena in which to actually do it. I’m so happy to be plugging the gap I felt by bringing these gentle and nourishing sessions to other new mums. If you’re curious, please do come along! I can’t wait to meet you and your baby.
