Description

The aim of the course is to develop the children’s own way of seeing and representing, according to their emotional sensitivity and their preferred drawing technique. To give them confidence in their ability to draw and to give them the tools to further their personal creative and analytical development.

During the first course, we look at the basics of drawing, with observational exercises and slowly move on to experiment with different materials, techniques and mediums.

I provide all the materials. We will explore still life, portrait, and other exercices aimed at freeing the mind from preconceived approaches to drawing or representing. (such as "an eye is a pointed ovoid with a circle in the middle...")

Rubbers and pencil sharpeners will be available to share. Each child will also have a wooden board, a viewfinder and a rigid transparent plastic (perspex) sheet for exercises and flexibility (in order to move around the place and find their preferred position to draw). Masking tape, white and black papers will be available for specific exercises, as well as charcoal, chalks, markers, pigment pens, colour pencils, paint (watercolour, gouache, acrylic), dry and oily pastels, (non-toxic) spray paint and any other mediums the children would be interested in using.

During the duration of each course we will look at masters' drawings, and talk about some landmarks of art history, using reference books such as Ernst Gombrich’s "History of Art"

If your child could wear something not too precious that would help not worrying about potential stains.

Food will be served at the end of the session by the lovely Eda.

Pick up can be arranged from local schools
