ACTIVITY
Beanstalk Arts - Musical Storytime Playalong session (Zoom) - Reception and KS1
We'll play along to a different musical story every week
Thursday 16:15–17:00
This activity is usually led by Becky - Director of Beanstalk Arts
Description
This is a new interactive, creative session for children in reception and key stage one (but older and younger kids are welcome to give it a try!) to compose, sing, improvise and play along with a different musical story each session.
Each week we'll have a different traditional tale, which will be told by Becky (with her cello and ukulele) through song, music and words BUT with the invitation for participants to contribute ideas (who knows what direction our tale will take!) and play music, sing and move together. You can bring any instruments you might already play along to the session (this could maybe even count as your music practice for the day!) and/or use 'found instruments' like wooden spoons or pots and pans drums. This is not a formal 'music teaching' lesson, but aimed to be a fun, creative approach to starting us off improvising with words, songs and music.
This is a class for children aged c. 4-8 - it's a fun, interactive afterschool session on zoom to listen and contribute to story time, compose musical ideas and sneak in some principles of musicianship too! Each week is a different story, and you'll receive an email in advance with some ideas of household objects you might want to bring along to help with the tale!
