Walk starts: Outside St Botolph's Church, Aldgate High Street

Walk ends: Liverpool Street station

Halfway stop at Spitalfields Market for baby change. At this time you will be given 40 minutes to change baby and get something to eat and drink at one of the many outlets and food vendors around Spitalfields Market before meeting the guide back at a given meeting point to resume the walk.

You are welcome to bring friends and family who do not also have a baby.

Walk description:

This is not about the unidentified murderer- yes, that one - of at least five women in 1888. He - whoever he was (about 100 suspects have been identified) - has had enough publicity.

This is about the women: Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary-Jane. This is about their lives and those of the people of Whitechapel and Spitalfields who were trying to help those in poverty.

Stops include:

- The sites where the women lived.
- Where did Petticoat Lane get its name?
- Why the local churches gained an infamous reputation.
- Toynbee Hall and the Salvation Army - providing help and refuge.
- The pub forced to change its name.
- And the other major event in women’s history happening locally in the same year.

A donation is being made by your guide to Beyond the Streets, a charity supporting women in similar circumstances in today’s east end.

- Children are the responsibility of the parent or guardian, and must be monitored by them at all times.
- Refunds must be requested within 24 hours of the event commencing.
