Description

Our forest school programme embraces the simple curiosities of childhood, we dig, we explore, we imagine, we laugh, we grow.

Grow Wild is a child led forest school session located at Birmingham Settlement's Red Shed site; a beautiful, green space tucked away in the heart of Brum. Our open ended sessions are a holistic blend of exploratory play and growing and gardening projects aimed at children aged 1 (walkers) to 5 years and their grown ups. Our Forest School site benefits from a small woodland space to jump and climb in, next to a wonderfully maintained veggie patch and polytunnel and we welcome you to play and grow with us. Let's get little fingers in the dirt and seeds in the ground.

We'll make paint from blackberries, fly on sticks, mix up marvellously muddy creations in the mud kitchen and we'll learn to nurture and grow new things from sunflowers to tomato plants. You'll be able to return each week to see how tall they've grown!

When you arrive at the Red Shed please make your way across the field and our Forest School site is located in the far right corner. Some of you may already know it from our Roots sessions with Birmingham Settlement, your sessions will be run by Rachel who also runs Roots. It is possible to push buggies across the field to the forest school corner.

Please dress for the weather! As long as little ones are wrapped up they will enjoy playing outside in all weathers. There are toilets on site at the Nature & Wellbeing Centre, but not in the forest school corner, so we encourage you to go before you join the session. Please do make us aware of any allergies or additional needs when booking so we can best accommodate these during the session. There is a cafe in the Red Shed and picnic tables and a small play area, so please feel free to stay and enjoy the Nature & Wellbeing site for longer once the session ends or bring scooters and bikes and enjoy a walk around the reservoir.
