Description

WHY MUSIC AND MOVEMENT?
Did you know that, according to The Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, 85% of brain development happens by the time a child is 3? The aim of music and movement is to aid and enhance cognitive, physical, mental and emotional well being.
The songs and movement activities we do at Tiny Dancers engage and stimulate your child’s brain to help improve skills such as coordination, gross and fine motor skills, social skills and expressing emotion in a healthy way.
We use a set list of songs and activities for the term as repetition is a wonderful tool to grow your toddlers confidence and self esteem. As we repeat songs, tunes and physical movements each week (so by the end of the term us grown-ups are having a good old sing-song!) your child begins to learn (and love) the music and know’s what to expect each week which this boosts their confidence as they join in more and more. Physical movement such as clapping, stamping, waving etc. connect the left and the right side of the brain and develops the coordination needed for two handed activities such as catching/throwing, drawing, and using cutlery etc. Tiny Dancer sessions develop children across the whole seven areas of learning of the EYFS curriculum:

Understanding the world - We sing topical songs about the environment we live in and the world around us.

Communication and language - We include key vocabulary and rhythm to help develop speech.

Personal, social and emotional development - We include learning about ourselves, social skills and emotions

Physical development - At the core of what we do, our movement activities develop gross and fine motor skills and the confidence to use new skills

Literacy - We begin to sound out phonics and letters

Expressive Art and Design - Our classes contain colourful stimuli and sensory toys/objects

Mathematics - We include numbers and counting up to 10.
