OUT OF THE BAG THEATRE

Into the Space is an enormously fun play and performance session for young children with their parents/carers. Everyone is welcomed into the space with song and movement. Right away the children lead the way, their actions inspiring our actions.

There is a micro-performance to watch, which introduces a prop (more often than not something found in the recycling) and invites participants into the space. Whilst there is plenty of opportunity for free play, adults and children together, there are also moments of all coming together: to dance or keep a beat; to play a game; or, to watch and listen. Adult involvement is important to help hold those moments. The sessions are always colourful, weaving and turning in unexpected ways as we respond to the direction of play that the children take.

In the autumn and winter we play in the indoor space. In the spring and summer we move outdoors to the woods and the beach.

This is a session in which parents/carers need to join in with and support their children. It will be quite lively with movement! The session is ideal for children once they are independently on the move; but some parents choose to come with babies as they move and play together. It is free for siblings who are not yet able to join in independently.
