Description
At our Pre-notes classes for ages 3-5, children learn the rudiments of musical theory in small groups. Classes not only develop children's musical knowledge, but also increase their confidence and communication skills. Lessons are designed to be 'no home practice' so there is no need to own a piano or keyboard at home. Music lessons are play-based and we teach through singing, solfège, puppets, pom poms, parachutes and lots more.
What will children learn?
- keyboard geography (where the notes on the piano are!)
- Kodály notation and how to read rhythms
- Italianate musical terms
- to read and identify skip and step intervals
- Solfège and Curwen hand signals to develop aural and pitch skills
- simple improvisatory pieces on the piano and set the foundations for excellent technique
- A termly zoom practise seminar for parents
- an opportunity to perform every term at the Putney Music School concert
