Reading Recruits (3–5 years)

The final stage in your Reading Fairy journey.

Reading Recruits is a fun, interactive class designed for preschoolers who are ready to take the next step in their reading journey. This stage builds on earlier skills and focuses on preparing children for learning to read at school.

Each week, children explore early phonics in a playful, multi-sensory way. They are introduced to new letter sounds and shapes, and learn how these fit together to form words. Sessions include songs, games, stories, props and activities that support listening skills, vocabulary, and early decoding, all in a relaxed, supportive environment with plenty of movement and fun.

Children are encouraged to join in at their own pace, with no pressure to “get it right” first time. The emphasis is on confidence, enjoyment and developing a positive relationship with books and reading.

By the end of the final term of Reading Recruits, children will be well prepared to begin learning to read at school.

Parent participation is encouraged, as this helps reinforce the skills at home and supports children’s learning through shared reading and play.
