Pre-School Play
Our Pre-School Play session is for children, 2 years 6 months to 4 years of age. Through fun, play-based activities and toys, this session will help both children and parents get ready for their school journey.
School readiness is a measure of how prepared a child is for school, socially, emotionally and cognitively. The development of these skills is important because it can affect how your child progresses, performs and feels in school.
This half-term the theme of our sessions will be about 'People Who Help Us.
There will be a focus each week. For example: our friends and family, farmers and food, emergency services, doctors and nurses and people in our community. The children will have a great time dressing up and role-playing doctors, nurses and firefighters, washing and feeding the babies, making masks, painting, tasting fresh foods and listening to stories and singing rhymes.
Our educational based activities will help parents support their child to learn to share, express themselves, listen to and engage with others, regulate their emotions and develop their confidence, independence and self-care skills. Over time, all of these skills will help the children be ready for school. The skills are transferable and will help their development at home too.
All staff and volunteers leading the group have many years of knowledge and experience working with young children in local primary schools and are here to support parents and their children.
The group leader works at a local primary school and has made contact with other primary schools in the area, so links will be made with Reception teaching staff and information will be shared as another means of helping you and your child be ready and prepared for school.
There will be drinks and biscuits available for adults and children and time to chat and make new friends. Why not come along and join in the fun!
Please read, complete and return the Welcome Letter and Parental Agreement on registration.
The carpark only has capacity for four cars. If it is full, please park on Stoney lane.
