What Story Bears says

Story Bears run interactive sessions that are designed to captivate young minds and create a love of stories from an early age. Each week, we embark on exciting adventures through the power of storytelling, fostering imagination and creativity through play along the way. Sessions are carefully designed to cover the areas of the Early Years Development Framework with a particular focus on oral literacy. Story Bears is also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other young families in your local community.

About

I'm Clare and I have always loved working with children. From helping out at children’s groups as a child myself, to running children’s art workshops and spending nine years as a primary school teacher, I never stop finding joy in a child’s delight at discovering the world around them!

I feel passionately that exploring and sharing books should be part of every childhood. I also believe waiting to think about a child’s reading until they have reading homework in school is a massively missed opportunity. We need to put the time into developing an eagerness for books through their first five years. I started Story Bears to help create communities who come together weekly to revel in story telling as well as to help nurture and equip families with reading and child development ideas.

I live in North Devon with my wonderful husband Ben and our young daughter Gracie- who gets to join me at Story Bears sessions sometimes! We love bringing Gracie up in such a beautiful place and enjoy a good long stomp around the countryside - especially if there is a hot chocolate at the end of it!
