About

Hello and welcome to TinyTalk Hartlepool!

My name is Lauren and live here with my husband James, three children Martha, Leila, Benedict and Bruno the dog!

I first came across TinyTalk when Martha, my eldest was around 6 months and I was looking for groups to attend first and foremost to get out of the house and secondly to make friends. I was quickly pleasantly surprised when not only did I find what I was looking for for me, but that my daughter was then able to start communicating with me through a few signs (milk and more!) As time went on I saw first hand the value of the TinyTalk sessions as we began to sign more and more at home as she told me about her wants, needs and interests. I was hooked!

My second daughter, Leila came along and we hit Lockdown, meaning that her TinyTalk journey was an online one, that didn't deter and we soon got into the swing of the classes, enjoying some structure to our week, and like with her sister she began to sign (duck being her first sign!)

Whilst still working as a Secondary Teacher Part Time I joined TinyTalk in September 2023 after we had moved house twice and our third child Benedict was 9 months old. After seeing how much we gained as a family from our experience with our eldest two it felt time to offer something back and so TinyTalk Hartlepool was born!

TinyTalk Baby Signing classes are a fun and relaxed hour long singing to well-known nursery rhymes and actions songs, using BSL signs. The weekly sensory activities (including scarves, bubbles and much more) are designed to encourage babies development and help promote early communication. The social time afterwards is a chance for babies to play (toys provided) and for adults to chat (refreshments provided). Social time is a great way to meet like minded grown ups and make friends.
