What Woolwich Dance Space says

We are a young organisation that celebrates inclusivity, embodiment and creativity in children, young people, and families through movement and dance.
Our children’s ballet classes carry a holistic, creative and playful approach to teaching. Striving for a fun and child oriented environment in which each child can follow its natural desire to move whilst learning ballet technique in a safe and age appropriate way, Svenja includes elements of the Royal Academy of Dance's syllabus, appreciating their developmental orientation.

Her classes promote a child-friendly, safe dance practice in which children are encouraged to learn their first technical skills alongside developing creativity, imagination, and confidence through the joy of dancing.
Svenja has taught and facilitated creative dance and children's ballet for over 15 years and loves supporting young dancers in finding their artistic voice through movement and dance.

About

Founded in 2023 by dance artist Svenja Buehl, Woolwich Dance Space focuses on providing high quality, holistic dance and movement classes for children, young people and families within the royal borough of Greenwich.

Svenja holds an embodied approach to movement and dance, in which creativity, curiosity and a positive and encouraging outlook on individual growth and development are kept at heart.
Working internationally within choreographic, visual arts and community-based contexts as a dancer, facilitator, researcher and director since 2008, Svenja has a degree in dance pedagogy (Lola Rogge Schule / 2006 - 2009), a BA (hons) in Contemporary Dance and an MFA in Creative Practice, having studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Independent Dance
(2012 - 2015; 2018 - 2020).

She also holds a certificate in Therapeutic Skills and Studies (2022) from the Metanoia Institute, having a special interest in Gestalt psychotherapy.
