Hi, I’m Emma, the founder of Woomamas
I have two gorgeous children of my own, a couple of fur babies and a partner who supports me through my craziest ideas. I dreamt of being able to work with pregnant women and families (literally) after having struggled to access quality antenatal classes throughout my own pregnancies.
It forced me to think back to my first pregnancy 10 years prior about how antenatal and new baby classes are pretty non existent in general especially in South Yorkshire. I didn’t know of or do a course even as a first time mum. It’s the biggest, most life changing, body changing and emotional thing we will ever do in our lives...where is the support, the education, the information to feel confident ?
I was scared, had no idea how to do the basics, I daren’t bath my newborn and was overwhelmed by sterilising and trying to do everything right. I was always doubting myself, had no trust in my maternal skills and absolutely winging it. Thankfully it turns out…I did pretty well with baby number one, he’s made it to 10!
Pregnancy number 2, I found myself t scrolling through search results, parenting apps and social media for advice and realised how much judgemental, incorrect and damn right dangerous stuff is out there. Listening to other mums at baby groups share their experiences it was clear that there are limited options when it comes to getting support and help in pregnancy and with a new baby!
I had to do something to help, putting my teaching experience, desire to make a difference and determination I enrolled to become qualified in Antenatal and Postnatal Education.
I have so many ideas about how I will grow ‘Woomamas’ with lots more exciting courses I want to offer in the near future. Keep your eye out for new product launches. I cant wait to welcome you to the ‘woomamas’ community.
