Little Hearth – A Waldorf-Inspired Parent & Child Group in Petersham
Nestled within the garden at The Roundhouse in Petersham, Little Hearth offers a peaceful, nurturing space for parents and caregivers to gather with their little ones (0–3.5 years). Rooted in Waldorf (Steiner) early-years principles, our mornings follow a gentle rhythm — one that honours childhood, the seasons, and the slow, beautiful work of growing together.
More than just a class, Little Hearth is a community — a place to exhale, connect, and be present. Parents often describe it as a moment of calm in the week: a space where they feel seen and supported, and where their children can explore safely in a warm, homely environment.
Each session begins with free play using simple, natural materials that invite imagination and creativity. We share a wholesome snack, sing songs, enjoy circle time, and offer a simple craft or nature-based activity for parent and child to do together.
Our approach is inspired by the Waldorf understanding that young children learn best through imitation, rhythm, and the senses. The space is intentionally calm, with soft colours, natural textures, and a sense of beauty that nourishes both parent and child.
Sessions are facilitated by Jessica Hardiman, who runs Hearth and Horizon, a community devoted to human connection in a digital age. Her work weaves together rhythm, presence, and play — supporting families to slow down and rediscover the magic of early childhood.
