Welcome to Read, Play, Create — where stories jump off the page and into a world of messy, sensory fun!

Each session begins with a storytime to spark imaginations. Don’t worry if your little one isn’t in the mood to sit — our sessions are completely child-led, so there are always activities waiting if they’d rather get stuck straight in.

From there, it’s time for free-flow adventures! Children can explore 5–6 carefully designed messy and sensory stations — think pouring, squishing, splashing, digging, and creating — all inspired by our story of the week. Whether it’s scooping rainbow rice, splashing in water play, or discovering new textures, there’s something to delight every curious little mind.

We’ll also have a themed art or craft activity each week, giving children a chance to create something special to take home and treasure. It’s the perfect way to connect the story to their own creativity.

To finish, there’s no rushing out the door. While I potter and clean up, you can enjoy treats and drinks, relax, and have a chat with other parents while the children carry on exploring. These sessions are as much about connection for grown-ups as they are about fun for the little ones.

Messy play is fantastic for early learning — encouraging communication, imagination, problem-solving, and fine motor skills — but most importantly, it’s joyful, freeing, and fun. We recommend old clothes for both children and adults, and perhaps a towel for the journey home… things can get delightfully messy!
