SAPLINGS IN THE WOOD

Our stay and play forest school sessions are suitable for walkers up to approximately 8 years with their grown ups. We have different provocations set up each fortnight linked to a theme, alongside all our regular play areas such as the mud kitchen, water play, monster trucks, sand pit, treehouse, slide, zip wire, slackline and more. Our sessions start with an introduction to the forest school and the theme, followed by a story and an explanation of the activities. Children are then free to roam and explore or join us in one of the activities/crafts. Sometimes we’ll light the firepit for s’mores, sometimes we’ll enjoy hot chocolate or other treats and every session ends with bubbles.

We ask that everyone wears appropriate clothing, including full-length arms and legs and closed-toe shoes. Children will probably enjoy getting mucky in the water play and shallow stream, so wellies and puddle suits would be most appropriate, or a change of clothes!

We do have limited shelter during rainy days but the majority of the site is not under cover.

There are pegs for you to leave your bits and bobs and we have nappy changing facilities.

The safety of your child(ren) is our priority. As with all outdoor play, there are some risks. We have assessed and managed these risks and deem them appropriate for the age group. Prior to each session, we conduct a safety sweep taking into consideration all current conditions. By proceeding to book, you agree to supervise your child(ren) at all times whilst visiting Saplings in the Wood.

Sessions will proceed in all weather conditions, except those deemed dangerous, such as lightning or high winds.
