Workshop 1 - Thinking About Birth? Exploring Doula Care for Trans People - 10th February2026 - (7-9pm)
This workshop is for trans and gender-diverse people who are curious about birth. Whether it’s something you’re considering in the future or simply want to understand more deeply, this workshop is for you.
We’ll explore the role of a doula, how doula support can be personalised for the needs of trans people, and what affirming care can look like before, during, and after birth. This is a space to build knowledge, ask questions, and imagine what supportive, trans-affirming birth could look like on your own terms.
Pregnant participants are welcome, but you are not required to be pregnant to attend.
Workshop 2 - Decolonising Birth Through Art, Story, and Ritual - 24th February 2026 - (7-9pm)
We live in a society that is shaped by white supremacy, capitalism and rigid gender binaries. These systems dictate how we are born into the world and how we birth.
Birth has been shaped by colonial, capitalist and binary systems that often exclude trans people and disconnect us from cultural practices, ritual and community care.
This workshop invites trans and gender-diverse participants (pregnant or not) to explore birth through your own lens. Through arts-based practices, reflection, and collective discussion, we’ll question dominant narratives of birth and experiment with new ways of imagining what birth could be.
About the facilitator:
Amisha Abeyawardene (they/she) is a doula based in London prioritising the needs of Black, brown, queer and trans people. They offer individualised and trauma-informed care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Amisha works with Neighbourhood Doulas to offer free doula support and childbirth education to those lacking a birth partner.
